David Burnett remembers::

I remember that Arlan Richardson gave his life for my freedom.

I remember that my best friend in grade school, Kenny Hornberger, died way to soon.

I remember Alford Newman and regret not keeping in touch.

I remember never seeing a frown on the faces of Chuck Lanning, Becky McMillan or Sandy Hays.

I remember Andy Boyd as being the strongest man on earth.

I remember Don Binns kicking the top of the black board and I'm sure God has a special place for him.

I remember the night Jack Allison died, what a waste.

I remember the first time I walked into Acapella and saw an angel setting at the piano.

I remember April 25, 1959. I turned 16. I got to drive my dads' 55 Olds to school and then had my first date in a car by myself. I think we went to Allen's Drive In. Life was good!

I remember how beautiful I thought Nancy Verberg looked in her prom dress.

I don't remember the school cafeteria - must have been the food.

I think I'd forget about the bell, there might still be a warrant out on that one.

I remember that Ms Carpenter tragically lost her fish to some colorful disease.

I think I remember that there were almost 400 in the class of 61, don't the rest of you remember anything?

Thanks Dave.  I hope your holidays are full of great cheer!

The very best gift is the gift of friendship and you all have blessed me with that gift this year and I thank you.

Jan 30

I never lived that dangerously, but I heard about the trip to Potter's Lake. I always thought it was funny that we had such a good football program at LHS and we would just clobber the opponent most times, and then you would get up on Saturday and go to the other end of the spectrum KU FOOTBALL and they were horrible!

I remember snow days and donuts in the High School parking lot. Borrowing baking trays from the Union for a wild trip down from the Campanile on to the ice on Potter's Lake. I remember the excitement of knowing that there were no more finals. I remember the pride of having gone through Jr and Senior High without watching LHS lose a football game. I remember having a lot of good friends and a lot of good times.
